Chief of SEZA threatens to lay off 40 workers at the Container Terminal Company in Aqaba Port

Chief of SEZA threatens to lay off 40 workers at the Container Terminal Company in Aqaba Port
Labor Watch  - Chief Commissioner of Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority SEZA announced that employment contracts of 40 employees shall be permanently terminated due to their absence from work for 10 days; they will be replaced by a one year contract foreign workers. 

The Chief explained that the strike of workers and employees of the Aqaba Port Container Terminal  Company was an illegal strike because it was carried out at a time negotiations were ongoing between the company, the trade union committee, and the Ministry of Labor.

 The strike, according to the chief revoked any chance for settlement to end the strike and enable the port to operate regularly.
