The Phenix Center for Economic and Informatics Studies organized a broad national dialogue on priorities for advancing the right to health in Jordan, with the participation of representatives of civil society organizations, local associations, organizations of persons with disabilities, women’s organizations, and community-based initiatives. The dialogue aimed to discuss the key challenges facing the realization of the right to health and to promote equitable access to medicines and healthcare

A new policy brief issued by the Jordan Labor Watch at the Phenix Center for Economic and Informatics Studies stressed that expanding social security coverage should be the cornerstone of any genuine and sustainable reform of Jordan’s social security system. It called for moving beyond temporary and limited coverage-expansion programs toward permanent institutional reform that responds to the transformations taking place in the labor market and changing patterns of employment and income.

Health sector experts and specialists have called for improving the governance of Jordan’s healthcare system and strengthening integration and coordination among the various institutions and entities responsible for managing and delivering health services. They said this would improve the efficiency of health spending and ensure that patients have timely access to the medicines and services they need, at the required quality.

The Phenix Center for Economic and Informatics Studies warned that the Arab region is facing a deepening crisis in youth employment, stressing that the continuation of current economic policies without serious review threatens a “bleak future” for large segments of Arab youth.

A new report has revealed that around 15,000 support service workers employed in Jordan’s public hospitals and health centers face precarious working conditions that fall short of decent work standards, despite playing a vital role in the country’s healthcare system. These workers are essential to the day-to-day functioning of hospitals and health centers, ensuring operational continuity and maintaining safe healthcare environments.
