The Phenix Center for Economic and Informatics Studies presented the results of a study it conducted on the inclusion of persons with disabilities in Jordan’s garment factories. The study revealed the presence of institutional gaps, infrastructural limitations, and social barriers that hinder the employment of persons with disabilities in this sector, despite the existence of supportive national legislation.

The Phenix Center, in cooperation with Terre des hommes (Tdh), concluded on Thursday a series of meetings held in the capital, Amman, to discuss a proposed Code of Conduct on decent working conditions in the Jordanian agricultural sector.

A position paper released by the Phenix Center for Economic and Informatics Studies stresses the urgent need for comprehensive and inclusive reforms to Jordan’s social security system.

The Phenix Center for Economic and Informatics Studies has begun holding awareness sessions for workers and employers in the agricultural sector in Madaba Governorate on the topics of decent work and gender-based violence. These sessions were developed based on an assessment conducted by the Center on working conditions and occupational safety and health standards in the sector.
